The Indigenous Council of Roraima CIR, together with the 256 communities of the Macuxi, Taurepang, Wai wai, Sapará, Wapichana, Ingaricó, Patamona peoples, REPUDIATES the choice and delivery, made yesterday (18), of the Medal of Indigenous Merit to the President of Brazil.
The Deputy Coordinator of the CIR, Enock Taurepang says:
"The delivery of this medal of indigenist merit to the president of Brazil and his doormats is a shame for the Brazilian state. First of all, the word merit comes from someone who did something great in favor of something, or from a people for a cause. He never did anything for indigenous peoples. He is simply a genocide. Honor, there is none, and from the word "indigenist" we understand that he is a person who tries to understand indigenous peoples, to understand how we live, how we organize ourselves and then try to help us, to have access to policies and programs of our Brazilian state.
Regardless of whether the government is left-wing or right-wing, it has to be valid is our constitution. So, don't tell me that Bolsonaro doesn't do this or that just because he's right-wing. No.
He has to follow what is written in the Constitution. The Constitution is the one that governs our country. He did nothing, neither before the pandemic, nor during, nor post-pandemic, he never did anything.
What it knows how to do is attack and take away our rights. So repudiation of the Indigenous Council of Roraima it is unacceptable for him to receive this type of honor."
Affirmed the leadership.
Here is the note.
Medal of Merit to the Omitted
When the mockery of our institutions and our policy of malocão is attacked, we realize that we have resisted since birth, when we look at the skies and see the smoke of the Amazon, the drying up of the rivers, and the bleeding of mining, we scream, more and more muffled by the anti-indigenous policy and why not say policy of genocide, nothing was raised when the worst of diseases devastated our families, nothing was said when our blood flowed again and again, in congress, in the streets and in our lands, the medal to the Omission declares the mockery in the face of everything he has done.
This is the policy preached by the president, to quote him, in this case his name, is to affront Makunaimã, who protects our spirit sometimes sick of mercury and beaten down by the lack of understanding when what we most desire for us, the indigenous people and everyone, is the peaceful coexistence of man, forest and time.
Time, perhaps the immensity of time has taught us not to trust the white man, but at what cost, all the"territory of this vast Brazil is indeed bathed in indigenous blood"and don't tell us otherwise, he is wrong if he puts on a headdress, paints his face, and claps for this guy is celebrating, our ancestors are crying, our Mother Earth Bleeds, and more and more she is running to a point where the scars will be eternal, the sweet river will be bitter, the shadow will be a brief memory, as well as the joy in the laughter of our people on the banks of the stream.
In his words this gentleman claims to be "almost equal" nor in our deepest or most profane thoughts do we want this, what we keep is culture, what we preach is equality, what we want is respect for quilombolas, women, children, our leaders to our territory, our bodies, our spirit.
Medal of honor to the omitted President, this is the only appropriate honor for you and your loved ones.
