We, Indigenous Leaders of the Maturuca, Camararém, Flexalzinho, Lilás, Pavão, Socó II communities; Morro, Angical, Aramu, Cutia, Central, Warabada, Maracanã II, Mutum, Santa Tereza, Pedra Branca, Barreirinha, Igarapé do Galo, Tamanduá II, Tabatinga, Enseada, São Mateus, Santa Liberdade, Bem Viver, Nova Aliança I, Nova Aliança II, Triunfo, São Filipe, Willimon, Keweken, Caxirimã, Uiramutanken, Kumapai, Laje, Popó, São Francisco, São Gabriel, Uiramutã, Urucá, Canaã, Canauawapai, Monte Muria I, Prototo, Sítio São Mateus, Urinduk, Waronkayen, Nova Esperança, Caracanã, Andorinha, Arapá, Makuken, Milho, Monte Sião, Nova Vida, Pato, Salvador, Ximaral, Caraparu I, Sol Nascente, São Luiz, Mudubin, Estevão, Tamanduá, Manaparu, Waromada, Campo Formoso, Lago Verde, Piolho, Ponto Geral and Sapã of the Raposa Serra do Sol Indigenous Land,

We camerepudiate the complaints that occurred due to the barrier of the Tabatinga Sanitary Surveillance and Monitoring Post, which aims to prevent the spread of the coronavirus and prevent access by non-indigenous people to communities and the region published in the media trying to harm our work. The world is experiencing a pandemic caused by the new coronavirus that is mobilizing all the authorities in the country, but many before that, communities monitor their traditional territories. Now we are only reinforcing the action to prevent the spread of the virus in indigenous communities due to the guidelines of the Ministry of Health, SESAI and other public agencies.

We clarify that at no time are we causing any type of inconvenience or humiliation to the people who travel through our surveillance, the passage of food and medicines is taking place without impediments and there is no bribe charged. We emphasize that the entry of alcoholic beverages is prohibited according to theLaw No. 6,001/1973 (Indian Statute), in article 53, establishes that it is a crime to encourage, by any means, the acquisition, use and dissemination of alcoholic beverages among indigenous peopleand mining equipment (machinery) into the Indigenous Land. We emphasize that we make ourselves available for prevention to other communities and our work is voluntary to defend the lives of all, regardless of organizations.

This initiative arose through the concerns of the communities and leaders of this region to protect ourselves, because so far the DSEI/LESTE and the municipality itself are not prepared or able to attend, in case we have infected indigenous people within the communities.

Our surveillance is neither clandestine nor illegal because it is a right protected by the Federal Constitution in articles 231 and 232, by ILO Convention 169 and the UN Declaration. The barrier is supported by the indigenous communities mentioned above. We emphasize thatIf materials intended for mining or any illicit activity are taken, the competent authorities will be called to take appropriate measures.

Regarding the accusation, we demand proof if the coordinator Aldenir Cadete de Lima is an alleged employee of the city hall. We leaders want respect for our coordinator.

Our surveillance does not HAVE A POLITICAL PARTY LINK and much less is it used to do politics. We highlight that there are people who want to politicize this moment of Emergency Situation in Health to try to demoralize the performance of indigenous communities in territorial surveillance and monitoring.

We are in dialogue and agreement with the coordinator Carlito Maciel Taulipang of the Regional Indigenous Center of Água Fria - CRIAF, who also brought his concerns and recommendations and we are open to dialogues with other SODIURR leaders.

Indigenous peoples do not need mining, mining, leasing and hydroelectric power in their territories. Our development is based on respect for Mother Earth, where we have access to clean air, lakes, rivers, fields and preserved forests. In our communities there is already our own development based on the sustainability of our land with cattle raising in our communities and with a focus on our organic agriculture.

The current government's project authorizes the invasion of indigenous territories, through large economic groups, businessmen and agribusiness landowners. Our Rights will never be for sale, and they will never be the object of compensation, much less the object of millionaire dispute for royalties. And we will resist in the defense, surveillance and monitoring of our territory.

SoWE REPUDIATEany type of complaint and attacks against the work of the communities of the Raposa Serra do Sol Indigenous Land and we demand respect for our surveillance post, as we understand that this is the time for UNION to confront and combat the coronavirus and territorial surveillance and monitoring. Our surveillance will be indefinite.
