RUTÎ INDIGENOUS FUND HOLDS II STATE SEMINAR TO PRESENT RESULTS, ADVANCES, CHALLENGES AND STRATEGIC PLANNING FOR THE COMING YEARS

Leaders from the twelve base regions of the CIR participated in the seminar held at the Lago Caracaranã Regional Center.

The program of the II Seminar of the Rutî Indigenous Fund, held in the traditional Lake Caracaranã, in the Raposa region, Raposa Serra do Sol Indigenous Land, on May 21 and 22, addressed the results and advances of the Fund, main achievements, projects supported, learnings, challenges faced and contributions of the Fund to the territory.

"This seminar is a demand that came out at the 55th General Assembly, where the leaders asked to make this moment. This is very important. The Fund comes to strengthen everything that exists here, especially in the production area, and you have the role of multiplying this information that you receive here in your bases," said Josimara Baré, coordinator of the Rutî Fund.

The Rutî Indigenous Fund is the result of the struggle of traditional leaders. It was created in 2024 to strengthen the sustainable development of communities and the autonomy of indigenous peoples, ensuring the occupation and protection of territories through project financing, respecting the reality and way of life of the indigenous peoples of Roraima.

During the seminar, the Fund's history, objectives, governance structure, team, internal flows, forms of support, project selection processes, execution, monitoring, accountability and application of the resources received were shared.

The traditional leader Clóvis Ambrósio, who is also deputy coordinator of the Serra da Lua region, was present at the seminar and recalled the moments of struggle to have the Fund consolidated. The information was listened to and carefully noted by the participants.

"I am happy and grateful to hear Mr. Clovis' experience and I reaffirm that the Fund has this essence of occupying and strengthening the territories, to give autonomy, protect our communities and everything we plant and create there," said Paulo Ricardo, deputy tuxaua general of the CIR.

On the occasion, the leaders endorsed the strategic planning of the Rutî Indigenous Fund for the coming years, built by the technical team and the management council of the Fund. Presented by Luciano Padrão, external consultant, the strategic planning brings the Fund's priorities for the coming years.

The monitoring activities of the twenty-five projects were also mentioned, with monitoring in nine regions contemplated in the first notice, in the areas of sustainable livestock, fish farming, sustainable agriculture, among others. The activity is carried out by the Fund's technical team.

"The Fund, in fact, has achieved its objective, which is to strengthen communities through projects, giving economic autonomy to families, regions and communities," said Geraldo Wai Wai, an agronomist at the Rutî Fund.

With a positive result, some of the projects contemplated in the first public notice are already being completed, with harvests carried out and others close to being made.

"This monitoring role is important. It is from it that we know where the project is at the base, if it is already being completed, if it needs technical assistance, among other situations. Everything is done by the Fund's technical team, which monitors the implementation of the projects", highlighted Josimara Baré.

The goal of the second public notice is to serve all the base regions of the CIR, contemplating youth and women's projects in the areas of sustainability and handicrafts.

"The Fund is new, but it is already a reference at the national and international level. It is part of the Network of Community Funds of the Brazilian Amazon. We bring this experience of strengthening and supporting existing projects at the bases, giving autonomy to our people," added Amarildo Macuxi, general tuxaua of the Indigenous Council of Roraima.

Delivery of equipment for the Fund's project articulators

On the second day of the Rutî Indigenous Fund Seminar, the project articulators received equipment that will assist in the fieldwork and in the monitoring of the projects.

The internal regulations approved during the 55th General Assembly of the Indigenous Peoples of Roraima were read to the leaders present. The document brings the governance structure of the Rutî Indigenous Fund.

"For us, leaders, it is very important to be here, to know how it works and what the next steps of the Rutî Indigenous Fund are. In my region, a sustainable livestock project was approved in the Raimundão I community, and the information presented here I will take to my base," said Suzane Lemos, coordinator of tuxauas in the Alto Cauamé region.
