Indigenous communicators from the Wakywai Network produce a mini-documentary about the struggle for the ancestral territory of the Macuxi and Wapichana peoples in the Pium Indigenous community, Tabaio region, municipality of Alto Alegre.
In September 2022, communicators Neysson Macuxi, Daniel Nágelo Macuxi, and Cintia Macuxi, under the supervision of Márcia Fernandes, communications advisor for the Indigenous Council of Roraima (CIR), spent two days producing material about traditional land.
There are three thematic videos: NATURAL WATER SOURCE, TRADITIONAL MEDICINE, and TERRITORY. In their accounts, the leaders cite the importance of preserving indigenous lands and valuing their culture and tradition. Since 2021, the leaders have been fighting to defend the territory from invaders, having already faced two attacks.
Resisting intensely, they affirm that the Earth is their Mother and that there will be no negotiation of any kind.
