The themes of representativeness and performance of indigenous organizations were debated on the morning of Friday (3), with representatives of the Coordination of Indigenous Organizations of the Brazilian Amazon (COIAB), the Articulation of Indigenous Peoples of Brazil (APIB), the Union of Indigenous Women of the Brazilian Amazon (UMIAB) and the Indigenous Council of Roraima (CIR).
Each organization presented its actions at the grassroots, in addition to highlighting the challenges of legal and political issues in the face of setbacks to the rights of indigenous peoples.
For 55 years, the Indigenous Council of Roraima (CIR) has been working in the defense of indigenous rights, participating in political and legal incidences at the local, regional, national and international levels.
"We have been working on several fronts of struggle, and one of the new objectives as an indigenous organization in Roraima is to set up strategies in the face of the setbacks in rights that we are experiencing and will still live. Another point is the issue of the demarcation of indigenous lands in our state, and we are seeking support for them to actually get off the ground. We also follow the health and education process, always seeking to act on behalf of our communities", highlighted the deputy general tuxaua of the CIR, Paulo Ricardo.
The organization develops and strengthens, at the grassroots, actions aimed at environmental management, education, women, youth, territorial protection, among others.
At the end, the leaders paid tribute to the deputy coordinator of the Coordination of Indigenous Organizations of the Brazilian Amazon (COIAB), Alcebias Sapará, and to the coordinator-treasurer of COIAB, Dineva Kayab, for their performance, dedication and legacy left in the journey that began in 2022 and ended in 2026.
