Indigenous peoples have their own rules and ways of solving problems, organizing work and taking care of the territory, to strengthen this autonomy Tuxauas, foremen, young people, teachers and other leaders of six indigenous communities concluded the Jacamim Indigenous Land Regiment. The conclusion and revision of the document took place on Tuesday (13) in the traditional shed of the Marupá Indigenous Community, in the Itacutu region, municipality of Bonfim.

The document with more than thirty pages brings together the rules, customs, traditions and forms of organization that are part of the daily life of the residents of the indigenous land. And all of them are supported by article 231 of the Federal Constitution, which recognizes indigenous peoples' social organization, customs, languages, beliefs and traditions, and the original rights over the lands they traditionally occupy. The rules are also recognized by Convention No. 169 of the International Labor Organization (ILO).

The traditional leadership Terêncio Salomão, was present at the conclusion of the Regulation, and recalled that he had been waiting for the moment for six years, emphasized that in practice the problems were already solved and that now the document will validate these actions. The leadership highlighted that among the main rules are the procedures for conflict resolution and the application of community decisions.

"I am happy to have followed the finalization of the Regulation, six years ago I expected this, it is our rules that we already practice here together with the other leaders, one point that I was calm about is that the decisions of less serious conflicts we will deal with with the leadership council and the most serious ones such as crimes we will forward to the justice of non-indigenous people", expressed Terence.

And according to the coordinator of the Jacamim Base Pole, Magaiver Gomes, the Regiment comes to ensure the duties of residents, in addition to guiding the existing rules in the areas of territorial protection, health, education, conflict resolution and the application of community decisions, among other points, and everything contained in the document was debated and built collectively with the participation of the residents of the six indigenous communities.

"It is important the participation of everyone, young people, women, men and even children, we were meeting debating, dialoguing because there are situations that relatives are not well informed about the situation of crimes, for example that the law of non-indigenous people punishes severely and with the regiment they will understand that there are situations that are not up to us or the council of leaders to decide and it goes to the justice of the whites, highlighted the coordinator.

The construction of the Jacamim Indigenous Land regiment was accompanied by the team of the Legal Department of the Indigenous Council of Roraima (CIR), which provided technical advice to the leaders from the beginning.
