The Indigenous Council of Roraima – CIR, representing 242 indigenous communities, publicly expresses its full support for the Waimiri Atroari indigenous people, who once again were disrespected within their traditional territory by State Deputy Jeferson Alves/PTB/RR, who truculently used a chainsaw to destroy the support and removed the chain from the surveillance post of the indigenous land, Waimiri-Atroari, according to a video released on social networks on February 28, 2020. The act incites and reinforces the hatred, discrimination and prejudice that already exists in society against indigenous peoples, blaming them as being an obstacle to the development of the country.

Our brothers"Kinja", the original peoples of the Waimi Atroari Indigenous Land, during the construction of the BR 174 highway that connects Manaus/AM and Boa Vista/RR, were reduced to less than 440 people, in a total of 3,000 people, in addition to several cases of human rights violations, such as the construction of the Balbina Hydroelectric Power Plant, in which 30 thousand hectares were flooded; the invasion of the Mining Company a large part of the lands and rivers were polluted (Tiaraju and Alalau rivers).

Therefore, we vehemently repudiate the arbitrary act of the parliamentarian and ask that the competent bodies take the appropriate measures to curb abuses against indigenous peoples and that the agreement signed with the Brazilian state itself be respected and complied with.
