The INDIGENOUS COUNCIL OF RORAIMA – CIR, on behalf of the 255 indigenous communities that make up its base, from the Serras, Surumú, Baixo Cotingo, Raposa, Serra da Lua, Wai Wai, Murupú, Amajari, Alto Cauamé, Tabaio and Amajarí regions, hereby expresses absolute REPUDIATION in relation to the diversion of vaccines against Covid-19, intended for the communities of the Yanomami Indigenous Land and which were sold to miners in exchange for gold by some employees of the Yanomami East District, of SESAI, according to complaints from the Yanomami and Ye'kuana District Health Council (Condisi YY).
We ask the competent bodies, especially the Federal Public Ministry (MPF), the Federal Police (PF), the Special Secretariat for Indigenous Health and the Yanomami District Coordination of Indigenous Health, to speed up the investigations so that the culprits are immediately exonerated and punished, so that cases like this do not happen again.
We also emphasize that the CIR will spare no effort to follow the case and demand that those involved be held accountable by the authorities in charge.
Finally, we reinforce our support for the leaders in the various complaints regarding the situation in the Yanomami Indigenous Land, caused by the invaders.
