Note of Repudiation

The Indigenous Council of Roraima - CIR, for 50 years in defense of the Wapichana, Macuxi, Taurepang, Sapará, Wai Wai, Patamona, Ingaricó, Yanomami, Yekuana and Piriti indigenous peoples, REPUDIATES the attacks on the Uprising for the Land Movement, yesterday (16) in front of the headquarters of the National Indian Foundation - FUNAI, in Brasilia, with approximately 800 indigenous leaders from Brazil, in protest to claim their rights, which was repelled with shots and bombs, fired at random. Meanwhile, they welcome with open arms loggers, land grabbers, among many others who degrade and destroy the forest that we try to protect, and preach the idea of being the backwardness of this country. When all the eight million, five hundred and sixteen thousand square meters of this land have a mark of indigenous struggle and resistance seeking an experience in peace.

In the face of the policy of silencing, obscurity, idleness and the risk of an imminent genocide of the indigenous peoples of Brazil, with the Bills that culminate in the destruction of forests, cultures and traditions.

It is evident that attacking a people who live in peaceful resistance will never be the solution. So let's take our bows, arrows, headdresses, cell phones, cameras, songs and speeches. We will continue in Brasilia, they certainly hear us, and that is why they are afraid of not letting us enter their "headquarters".

Pepper spray and stun grenades give us strength. They will not silence us. Mother Earth will vibrate. The soil feels our presence and it knows who we are. Yesterday's attack is a clear image of the state that remains against the indigenous peoples.

On the occasion, the Indigenous Council of Roraima reinforces support for the delegations attacked in Brasilia, including leaders from Roraima who continue to fight for no rights less.

They will not stop us, they will not silence us!

A united people will never be defeated!

The struggle continues, united we will win!
