The Indigenous Council of Roraima - CIR expresses regret for the inestimable loss of the indigenous artist of the Macuxi people, Jaider Esbell 41 years old, which occurred today (2) in São Paulo (SP), the death of an artist and activist of Jaider's size there is no measure, coming from a family traditionally active in the indigenous movement, Jaider leaves a legacy of resistance, struggle and firm position.
His engaging paintings, plasticity and his writing manifested what the indigenous people have to offer, Culture.
To his family, friends and admirers we express our most sincere condolences, there is nothing to comfort this loss.
“The indigenous man who painted, wrote and lived by showing his art and that of his people around the world, now sits next to Makuinaimã, and together with Grandma Bernaldina, his matriarch, they sing songs in Macuxi and comfort those who stay here."
