Circular Note Indigenous Movement of Roraima

We are here with our faces painted, with our traditional dances, protest banners and a lot of resistance, we are the indigenous people of Roraima, we are on BR 174, near the Sabiá indigenous community, São Marcos Indigenous Land.

We speak out against Bill 490/2007, which was scheduled to be judged today, 22, in the Commission for the Constitution of Justice and Citizenship (CCJC) and which will be on the agenda morning, 23.

On the occasion we REPUDIATE, yet another attack on the indigenous delegations in Brasilia, who peacefully also protested against PL 490. Bill that opens indigenous lands for the exploitation of large enterprises.

We question why there was so much violence against the Levante pela Terra movement, if they continued in a peaceful mobilization. Today's attack (22) injured many relatives, one of them being the State Coordinator of the indigenous youth of Roraima, Alcebias Constantino, from the Sará people.

We reaffirm that the Indigenous Movement of Roraima gains more strength. Even with constant internal and external intimidation.

To the relatives who were affected, we send the strength of our ancestors.

In view of what happened, the Indigenous Movement of Roraima, decides to maintain the blockade tomorrow (23), from 06:00 to 18:00, and if new attacks happen, the interdiction will be permanent, until a position respectful to the indigenous peoples.

Thus, we continue, firm and strong for our relatives who have suffered and are suffering in defense of our constitutional rights.
