This Thursday (21) began in the Morcego community, the I workshop for the construction of the regiment of the Murupú region. The workshop aims to discuss issues pertinent to the social organization of indigenous communities: Serra da Moça, Serra do Truarú, Morcego, Truarú da Cabeceira and Anzol.
Topics such as territory, education, health, youth, women, residents, security, projects and sustainability, party politics and leadership are discussed by the communities. The coordinator of the region Alexsandro Chagas, from the Wapichana people, says that it is a remarkable moment in the Murupú region.
"We address important issues in the social organization of our communities. The regiment workshop only contributes to the improvement of the work and also directs the future of the communities", he highlighted.
Janaira Nagelo Macuxi from the Morcego community, reinforces the importance of the regiment.
"It is important for our region, because the items we are dealing with, such as education and health, are important tools in the fight for a differentiated education, we fight so hard and people outside do not understand this, and it is important to strengthen our culture", he says.
The young Lailton André, Wapichana from the Serra da Moça indigenous community, also participates in the workshop and said that the construction of the regional regiment is important. "It is important for us to build our future, our communities, education, health, and especially agriculture. We are organized and we have legal support for our communities," he said.
The internal regulations or norms, as they are known, are indigenous laws, drafted by the communities themselves whose objective is to strengthen indigenous autonomy in the context of their social, political, cultural and economic organization.
The workshops continue until this Friday (22), there will be three stages held in the communities of the region and have the support of the Indigenous Council of Roraima (CIR).
