Judge of the District of Alto Alegre suspends the repossession process against the Truaru da Cabeceira indigenous community

The decision is on March 22 in the records of the repossession action. According to the judge, the action should be suspended due to the decision of the STF in the extraordinary appeal RE 1017365/SC, known as the "Temporal Framework" case.

The decision is important for the Truaru da Cabaceira Indigenous Community, as an alleged owner claims to own an area of 368,576 hectares, of the 450 hectares that the community culturally inhabits and uses;

"The process cannot be in progress because there is a decision by the STF that suspends possessory actions, repossession against indigenous communities in the country until the judgment of General Repercussion (Marco Temporal), this we bring to the attention of the Judge," says Ivo Aureliano, Legal Advisor of the CIR, who follows the case.

Since 2020, the community has suffered from the attempt to repossess property, however, it was prevented through the intervention of the CIR's Legal Counsel.

By 2020, the community area had more than 108 families and 510 residents, from the Macuxi, Wapichana, Yanomami and Wai Wai peoples.
