On Monday (30), the workshop to raise awareness of the Environmental Territorial Management Plan (PGTA) of the Surumú region, coordinated by the Department of Territorial and Environmental Management (DGTA) of the Indigenous Council of Roraima (CIR), began. The activity is part of the construction of the PGTA of the Raposa Serra do Sol indigenous land.
More than 150 people from indigenous communities are already present: Cumanã, Santa Izabel, São Miguel da Cachoeira, São Joaquim, Novo Paraíso, Barro, Maloquinha, Taxi, Taxi II, Machado, Canta Galo, Maravilha, Limão, São Bento, Nova Felicidade, São Jorge, Renascer, Beira Rio.
And to start this important document, 04 working groups were organized in order to survey the following topics: what do we mean by management? Identification of the main existing natural resources, identify experiences of management and sustainable use of natural resources, what do we mean by sustainable?
The leaders pointed out the importance of the PGTA in the IT, in the certainty that it will help the continuity of the social, political, cultural and economic life of each community that belongs to the region and its people.
The workshop continues until this Friday (03). The event features the production of traditional medicine for the leaders during the activity. With the support of Bem Viver, USAIS, IEB and Nature Culture International.
