RUTÎ INDIGENOUS FUND VISITS SUSTAINABLE PROJECTS IN COMMUNITIES OF THE RAPOSA SERRA DO SOL INDIGENOUS LAND

Between March 5 and 6, 2026, the Rutî Indigenous Fund team carried out a series of technical visits to communities in the Raposa and Serras region, in the Raposa Serra do Sol Indigenous Land. The objective was to closely monitor the progress of community, family, and regional projects focused on agriculture, livestock, and fish farming, in addition to strengthening dialogue with indigenous leaders.

The agenda began in the Imbaúba indigenous community, where the team was received by the tuxaua, Nairla Macuxi. At the site, areas intended for the execution of community projects were visited, focusing on the management of cattle herds. During the visit, agronomist Geraldo Wai Wai applied technical questionnaires to collect data on productive activities, contributing to the diagnosis and improvement of the actions supported by the fund.

Still in the morning, the team went to the Laurau community, where it was welcomed by the regional coordinator, Alencar Gomes Mendes. In the region, the team followed the development of a consortium agriculture project, already consolidated for more than a decade, marking the experience and protagonism of local producers.

In the afternoon, the work continued at the Lago Caracaranã regional center, with a visit to Retiro União. The space already has structured infrastructure, including a standard corral, being considered a reference in the execution of regional livestock projects.

Region Serras

In the Serras region, the team began activities in the São Mateus community, where it was warmly received with traditional parixara cultural presentations, organized by the local school and leaders. The moment reinforced the appreciation of Macuxi culture and the integration between the community and the technical team.

During the meetings, leaders such as Lindamar Macuxi, Valmiro Macuxi and Djacir Melquior highlighted the importance of the presence of the Rutî Indigenous Fund in the communities. They stressed that the support has contributed to the autonomy, sustainability and strengthening of indigenous productive activities, in addition to encouraging the participation of young people in the future management of the initiatives.

The visits were also technical and educational. In the Urinduk community, the team monitored a family fish farming project, with the application of questionnaires and guidance on fingerling management.

In the Lage community, in the Willimon subcenter, the work included the evaluation of a flour house project. As in the other locations, the reception featured traditional cultural manifestations and strong community participation. Integration and perspectives.

Throughout the visits, the Rutî Indigenous Fund team, composed of indigenous professionals from different regions, such as Erdineisson Macuxi (driver, from the Maturuca community, Serras region), Cirilo Makuxi (political articulator, from the Raimundão I community, Alto Cauamé), Romeson Viriato (monitoring assistant, from the Boqueirão community, Tabaio) and Geraldo Waiwai (agronomist, from the Laranjinha community, Wai Wai region), reinforced the commitment to sustainable development and the appreciation of traditional knowledge.

The activities were concluded with a positive evaluation by the leaders and the technical team, consolidating another cycle of monitoring and dialogue in the indigenous communities.
