Continuing the second stage of the donation campaign in the face of the new coronavirus pandemic, the Indigenous Council of Roraima (CIR) donated on April 25 basic food baskets and hygiene kits to families living in Boa Vista.
The action, which aims to contribute to the indigenous people in this critical moment that the country is going through, delivered the baskets and hygiene kits accompanied by two chickens to 15 indigenous families living in the capital.
Izaura Neves, is the mother of two daughters and is eight months pregnant, was one of the beneficiaries. A resident of the Sílvio Leite neighborhood, she is of the Macuxi ethnic group and said that she has lived in Boa Vista for 4 years. She worked as a hairdresser, but due to health problems she had to stop.
"The basket and kit that the CIR donated to me is a great help, it came at a good time. I am grateful. It will help me a lot", thanked Izaura upon receiving the donation.
Housewife Lurdecimayra Alves, also of the Macuxi ethnic group, lives with her husband in the Caumé neighborhood and also received the donation. He is a butcher in a supermarket in Boa Vista, but due to the coronavirus pandemic he had his work reduced and with it his salary as well.
"This help comes at a good time, because my husband works every other week, so the situation became complicated," said the housewife who is from the Darora community, in the region of São Marcos.
The deputy coordinator of the CIR Edinho Batista Macuxi, who has participated in the deliveries since the beginning of the campaign, said that the moment is to show love for others.
"If we talk so much about love, companionship, friendship and brotherhood, the time to show this in practice is now, without leaving anyone behind, we are with everyone and for everyone," said Edinho.
The emergency campaign is in partnership between the CIR and COIAB and ICS and individuals who made donations to the organization's bank account.
The fundraising campaign continues indefinitely. Anyone can help by donating by deposit or transfer to the CIR: Agency 2617-4 account: 8198-1 (Banco do Brasil). All money raised is used to purchase hygiene materials and food.
