Established with the purpose of being a framework for reflection on native peoples, their values, cultures, languages, beliefs and traditions.
Indigenous peoples have their own ways of living, and this is purposely placed as a delay for the development of the nation. Therefore, Brazilian society cannot conform to ethnic and cultural homogenization, but consecrate difference and diversity.
The date, however, continues to be a day to repudiate the reality experienced by indigenous communities: invaded lands, destroyed rivers and forests, the denial of constitutional rights and lives exterminated by the greed of those who see only now and forget about tomorrow.
May the present be one of deep reflection, so that we can build a fraternal and harmonious future, of respect and collective well-being.
We hope that this day will be a day of reflection on respect for diversity, customs and indigenous values.
