CIR WOMEN'S DEPARTMENT DELIVERS MATERIALS TO STRENGTHEN SUSTAINABLE WOMEN'S INITIATIVES IN THE BAIXO COTINGO REGION

It is the first time that sustainable projects by women from the Campo Grande, Cararuau and Travessão indigenous communities, in the Baixo Cotingo region, receive support to strengthen the initiatives developed in the communities.

On each arrival, the team from the Women's Department of the Indigenous Council of Roraima (CIR) was received with great expectation and enthusiasm. The presence of the CIR at the grassroots renews the strength of the communities.

Irrigation kits, pump motor, wire balls, wheelbarrows and flour house kits were delivered. The inputs will help the women of each community to develop their activities, whether in the garden, in the production of flour and other derivatives.

"The women of the three communities have never received any kind of support. This is the first time, and the materials will strengthen and give them more autonomy", explained Kelliane Wapichana, coordinator of the Women's Department.

The CIR Women's Department has promoted autonomy and empowerment through workshops on cutting and sewing, handicrafts, production of traditional medicine, training of women electricians, lectures on women's rights, combating violence, mental health and strengthening self-esteem.

We thank the tuxaua Kelliane and the entire team for this action", declared Nélia Lima, regional coordinator of women.
