Wai Wai Indigenous Communities are benefited in another action of the CIR's emergency campaign

Following the emergency campaign carried out by the Indigenous Council of Roraima (CIR), on November 5, humanitarian aid was delivered to the indigenous communities of the Wai Wai people. The Indigenous Land served was Trombetas Mapuera, which received 150 baskets of non-perishable food, 150 hygiene and cleaning kits, as well as information folders in the mother tongue. The action was one of the stages of the campaign that the CIR has been carrying out to prevent and combat Covid-19 in the indigenous communities of the state.

The equipment was received by the Indigenous Health and Sanitation Agent (AISAN), Luis Carlos Miranda, along with the Indigenous Health Agent (AIS), Enoque Luiz Wai Wai. "This concentrator will help a lot in supporting the communities of the Wai Wai Indigenous Land, we are grateful for the support and all the equipment will be of great help."

Edinho emphasized the importance of partnerships with Health Expeditionaries, who donated the air concentrator. "We are bringing the equipment to help the communities cope, even in the conditions we are experiencing in Roraima, Brazil and in the world, the support of the CIR and partners who are joining forces to our work is always important", he highlighted.

The leader Fernandinho Oliveira de Souza Wai Wai was the one who divided the aid among the families and thanked for the donation that will help the families in the region. "We have eight communities in the Trombetas de Mapuera, Jatapuzinho, Makará, Cobra, Katual, Samaúma, Soma, Laranjinha and Angelim Indigenous Lands. Here there are 137 fathers of families and each leader is here receiving support. This helps us not to go out to buy something, so it is very important," he said.

In addition to the Wai Wai region, other communities have already benefited: Ananás (Amajarí), Barata, Mangueira, Boqueirão (Tabaio), Banco (Baixo Cotingo), Puim (Tabaio), and a family from the Barro community (Surumu).
The campaign continues to always aim at the health of the team and residents of the indigenous communities. The entire process was done safely with the individual protection of the participants, guiding those present at the deliveries on the importance of wearing masks. The donations are supported by CIR, Magazine Luiza, União Amazônia Viva, Royal Norwegian Embassy (ERN) COIAB, Rainforest and UNICEF.
