With the history of retaking the Manoá-Pium Indigenous Land, indigenous people from the Pium community denounced this Friday morning (24) an attack using a vehicle from the Roraima state government. There is already a presence of the Military Police on the site, intimidating the indigenous people.
According to the complaint, the vehicle pursued an indigenous leader who was traveling by motorcycle and was knocked down, injuring his knee. The complaint was forwarded to the Indigenous Council of Roraima (CIR).
Since February, communities in the Manoá-Pium indigenous territory have been reclaiming it, and on March 17th, a request for repossession filed by the farmer occupying the area was overturned by the Roraima State Court. The case was transferred to the federal court, which will judge the action.
Indigenous leaders fear further attacks and are calling for urgent action against today's attack.
