The Indigenous Council of Roraima (CIR), resuming the debate on the Temporal Framework trial at the Supreme Federal Court (STF), will promote next Wednesday (12), at 5 pm, on Facebook, a live event with the theme “Temporal Framework - Our history does not begin in 1988 - Our history is ancestral”.

The live stream aims to provide clarification and updated information on the progress of the Temporal Framework trial, as well as to raise awareness within the Supreme Court regarding the urgency of resuming and concluding the trial, which could decide the future of indigenous lands in Brazil.

The event will include the participation of the general coordinator of the Indigenous Council of Roraima (CIR), Edinho Batista, and the legal advisor, Ivo Makuxi. Ivo acted as one of the indigenous lawyers who made oral arguments in the first part of the trial, in September 2021.

CIR is one of the indigenous organizations acting as amici curiae—meaning "friend of the court"—in the general repercussion trial regarding indigenous lands. Ivo Makuxi represents the organization in the process.

The announcement by the Minister and President of the Supreme Federal Court (STF), Rosa Weber, that the trial regarding the Temporal Framework could be resumed this semester reinforces the expectations of indigenous peoples regarding the judgment, but also the overturning of the thesis, as it became known, the Temporal Framework thesis. The announcement occurred in March during a visit by the Minister to the Paraná village, in the Javari Valley (AM).
