CIR through the Bem Viver Project promotes training of Indigenous Territorial and Environmental Agents - ATAI

Through the Department of Territorial and Environmental Management (DGTA), of the Indigenous Council of Roraima, the "Continuing Education for Indigenous Territorial and Environmental Agents, with the theme: Climate Change" will be held on April 6 and 7 at the Lago Caracaranã Regional Center.

Sineia Do Valer, Coordinator of the DGTA, has been actively participating in discussions on climate change, including at the international level, about the training, she explained a little, citing part of the history.

"Since 2008, the CIR has been doing this work with territorial and environmental agents. We have a history of this work since this year, due to the pandemic and well before the pandemic, some work, we were unable to carry out, even more so this broader meeting. This year we will be meeting in Caracaraná, half of the agents to address the theme of climate change, which is a very latent theme and within this theme we will deal with four sub-themes. So it will be a very important moment on these two days 06 and 07 with environmental agents. In addition, we continue the conversation of the environmental agent, now on a more macro issue: Discussing the PLs together with federal deputy Joênia Wapichana, for the recognition of the category of environmental agent at the national level. For this, representatives of the states where there are environmental agents will attend. And they will join us in this work (in Caracaranã)."He highlighted Sineia do Vale, who participated in COP 26, and the International Climate Summit.

The 4 topics discussed in the training will be: 1. Climate Change and the Coping Plan; 2. Platform of Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities; 3. Indigenous Peoples and Climate Funds 4. Indigenous Peoples and REDD Strategies and Safeguards.

The training activity of the agents is carried out by the Indigenous Council of Roraima (CIR), through the Bem Viver Project, with the support of the IEB (International Institute of Education of Brazil).
