CIR collects donations to help communities face a new wave of Covid-19 and also the emergence of flu epidemics

Brazil and many countries around the world are going through a new wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, caused by a variant of the Coronavirus called Omicron. To aggravate the situation, there are flu epidemics caused by different viruses, the most frequent being the H3N2 Influenza virus, which has symptoms very similar to those of COVID-19, according to experts.

For this reason, the Indigenous Council of Roraima (CIR) has started a new campaign to raise funds and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for indigenous communities as a way to help in this period of flu epidemic.

The funds will go to the communities that need assistance the most. And all the money raised will be used to purchase hygienic materials, traditional medicine supplies and materials, and foodstuffs.

Since January 20, the organization has suspended internal and external activities for 15 days. Subsequently, the leaders of the indigenous communities also suspended their activities, complying with the preventive standards determined by the World Health Organization (WHO).
