No to the Time Frame. No to PL 490/07
Think if a few years ago we had not welcomed and sheltered those who today ignore us, murder and deny our identity, livelihood and what we protect, what would we have?
Who knows, maybe part of something as beautiful as Macuxi singing, and Taurepang, perhaps the Tupi who preserved the beautiful garden that sheltered them, which the white man looked at thought was paradise. Who knows, maybe we would have Grandma Bernaldina José singing and healing the hundreds, Professor Fausto Mandulão teaching and laughing while dancing parixara, and Dionito José standing in front of the general assembly of the peoples.
We would have the land clean, the water healthy, we would have Yanomami smiling and not being attacked, running with bullets, they deny us the duty of protection. It is no less than sordid to think that everything, absolutely all they want, is money, to quench their thirst for blood, they kill, to hide bodies, lies, to deny health or their access, they deny it 53 times. The Time Frame takes away from us the merit of surviving for what we have, because everything was ours, from the mountains that today are swallowed up little by little to the rivers and fish that die quickly. When we say no to the Time Frame, it is not only because this is a crime, it is because we have to raise our flag again that the lightness of the birds when flying over preserved forest.
Jaci de Souza, still alive, always says: let's fight, until the last indigenous person!
We hope that we will never have to come to this one day, because fever ravages us, hunger surrounds us and weapons are always pointed at us, the Indigenous People, belonging to the land and coming from it.
And when we sing songs don't look for beauty, it's a cry for help, listen to us.
We do not ask for a favor in our land, we let you live in it, and yet you took it by storm, killed our elders, and stained with indigenous blood all this ground that you tread on today, and you still want more.
#PL 490 NO,
And yes, we will use social networks, our cell phones the technology we obtain, after all we are what we are because we happily adapt to the conjunctures, and to shelter the knowledge that was passed on to us, even if they did not want us to speak our language.
What would we have?
Today it seems but it is not so easy to ask, but perhaps our sense of peace would be different, and our voice would be respected when standing up.
The indigenous council of Roraima CIR throughout its 50 years, representing 256 communities and 10 ethnoregions, has witnessed and fought tyranny, contempt and ignorance up close, and in the years to come we will with the strength of our people continue the battle, Bill 490/2007 directly affects indigenous peoples who seek to demarcate their lands, and will be on the agenda on June 11, 2021 (Friday), it seems in our view another landing, as 521 years ago, they see, and again we will fight.
It costs nothing to stand for the right and preserve Mother Earth, our tuxauas, children, and women, our culture.
Until the last indigenous person, believe me, this will not be in vain, we will never surrender and we will never retreat.
Free land, free Indigenous People.
