The pandemic of the new coronavirus has increased the suffering that indigenous communities face since the invasion of territories, miners, and genocide. After the intensification of the pandemic, the new coronavirus has caused new psychological, emotional, and spiritual suffering. In view of this scenario, the Indigenous Council of Roraima (CIR) continues with psychological assistance in indigenous communities.
Psychology has taken on an important role in the Indigenous context. And also according to Iterniza, exaggerated fear, insecurity, the feeling of being at constant risk, even if not at risk, are consequences of the loss of a loved one. "Such suffering is a consequence of the loss of a loved one, a victim of Covid-19, the breaking of the farewell ritual, which in Indigenous culture has a great meaning, because it is not allowed, it has caused difficulties for family members to face the grieving process," he said.
