The Cachoeira do Sapo Indigenous Community, Serra da Lua Region, received today (04), the legal advice of the CIR, represented by Júnior Nicácio, Wapichana Lawyer, to make final referrals for approval of the Community Regulation.
The rules were written by indigenous leaders, with the aim of strengthening the original justice system.
Traditional organization has always been part of the community's daily life, but they were not yet written. In 2018, at the request of the leaders, the CIR's legal department held the first workshop to transcribe the internal rules based on the beliefs and customs of the Wapichana people.
For the leaders, the Regiment strengthens the social organization of the community and guarantees autonomy in the territory.
