A historic moment and one of strengthening the Arapuá community, a territory of struggle and resistance.
Leaders of the community and the region, the tuxaua Gustavo Emiliano, the regional coordinator Dorgival Caetano and women, Valterlina Macuxi, welcomed the leaders, tuxauas, women, young people, teachers, indigenous health agent (AIS) and other members.
Moved and expressing joy, the Tuxaua greeted everyone, who had the opportunity to arrive at the Arapuá indigenous land, for the event and, especially for the moment of collective struggle in defense of the territory.
Dorgivaldo reinforced that the community is experiencing a historic moment due to the demarcation, but that it has also faced challenges.
The women's coordinator, Valterlina Macuxi, firsthand, reported that Arapuá will be the Regional Center of Alto Cauamé. Based on collective work, the place was prepared in record time, with malocão, lodgings and other structures, to host two major state events, the Extraordinary and the II Expanded of the CIR.
We are happy to welcome you to our home. This will be our Regional Center, but we still need to structure the place", expressed the coordinator, when giving welcome.
The Extraordinary Assembly is held when there are important demands for deliberation, as is the case of the organization's Statute. Due to the lack of quorum, requiring the participation of 195 councilors, with the right to voice and vote, the expected approvals were not made.
With the vote on the main agenda suspended, the Assembly continued with the alignment of proposals, without voting and approval. They deepened the debate around the creation of the department of youth, women and other issues.
They took the opportunity to address problems in indigenous lands, such as increased invasions, drought, agribusiness, in addition to debating sustainability projects, the creation of the Jamanxim Indigenous Fund – which in the Macuxi language, is called "Rutu" and other debates.
The regional coordinator of the women of Serra da Lua, Gracinha Gomes, honored traditional indigenous women, such as Elineia de Souza, Odete Barroso, Marciliana Luis da Silva and other women, as well as the current secretary of the Indigenous Women's Movement of the CIR, Kelliane Wapichana. She expressed words of encouragement, strengthening and gratitude.
The date for the next assembly will be decided at the II Expanded Deliberative Meeting of the Indigenous Council of Roraima (CIR), which begins tomorrow, 5, and continues until the 7th.
