On Wednesday (08) the state court of the District of Boa Vista-RR decided that it is INCOMPETENT to process the action of SODIURR against the Protection, Surveillance and Monitoring posts in the Raposa Serra do Sol Indigenous Land. The case will be sent to the Federal Court for processing and judgment.
For one of the leaders of the Raposa Serra do Sol indigenous land, this decision is of great and importance. He declared that the act of violence that took place on November 16 in the Tabatinga indigenous community, where 12 leaders were seriously injured, involves the collective rights of indigenous peoples and therefore deserves to be discussed in the Federal Court.
"Now in fact we are going to demand the competent authorities FUNAI, the Federal Police and if it is necessary to appeal to the Federal Supreme Court (STF) that this act of violence that occurred on that day in the Tabatinga community, reparation be made for damages suffered. The community will never forget where the Military Police of the state of Roraima committed this act of violence, where the children witnessed their uncles, their country or their brothers being injured by bullets, so this will never leave the memory of these children", highlighted the leader.
The legal counsel of the Indigenous Council of Roraima (CIR) reinforces that the Military Police (PM) cannot carry out any action in the Tabatinga Indigenous Community or in any other indigenous community or surveillance and monitoring post within the indigenous land for "clearance" or to "comply with an injunction". Any action by the PM in this regard will be illegal and arbitrary.
