The Indigenous Movement of Roraima continues to mobilize this Friday (7) against the judgment, in the Federal Supreme Court (STF), of appeals related to the Time Frame Law. On the second day, the demonstration takes place peacefully at the Enseada roundabout, on BR-174, and seeks to defend the original rights of indigenous peoples over their territories.
The main demand of the initiative is that the trial takes place in person to ensure transparency and participation of indigenous peoples, who are mainly affected by the legislation.
The activities of the second day of mobilization began at 7:40 am, in the Entroncamento Indigenous Community, in the São Marcos Indigenous Land. During the morning, indigenous people from different regions performed songs, traditional dances and moments of cultural strengthening, reaffirming the identity and resistance of the native peoples.
The first act of the day ended at 9 am and paralyzed the BR-174 in both directions. The blockade takes place for periods of one hour, with 30-minute intervals for the release of traffic. However, the passage of ambulances and elderly people is allowed during the stoppage.
Through cries of resistance, the demonstrators defend the rejection of the Time Limit and reaffirm the struggle to guarantee the constitutional rights of indigenous peoples.
The mobilization began on Thursday (6), when hundreds of indigenous people gathered on BR-174 to mark the beginning of the movement. At 1 pm, the highway was closed for approximately 1:30 am, in both directions, during which time leaders and representatives of the communities presented the main claims related to the judgment in the STF.
In the evening, around 7:30 pm, the participants of the mobilization received updates from the commission of the Indigenous Council of Roraima (CIR) that is in Brasilia. The information was shared by the General Tuxaua of the CIR, Amarildo Macuxi, who presented an assessment of the meetings held in conjunction with other bodies and organizations. In addition to Tuxaua, the legal and communication teams that follow the trial are part of the commission.
