The meeting to prioritize and implement the Territorial and Environmental Management Plan (PGTA) took place on June 29 and 30, in the Canauanin Indigenous Community, Serra da Lua region. The activity brought together leaders and the technical team of the Department of Territorial, Environmental Management and Climate Change (DGTAMC) and the Financial Administrative Department (DAF) of the Indigenous Council of Roraima (CIR).
The prioritization meeting of the Territorial and Environmental Management Plan (PGTA) is part of a process composed of three stages. The first is awareness-raising, when information about the implementation of the PGTA is shared. The second is the prioritization meeting, in which leaders collectively define which initiatives will be executed, such as poultry farming, fish farming, community farming projects, among others. In this phase, the projects are built collectively and the terms of commitment are signed. The last stage corresponds to the implementation of the PGTA.
In all, 12 projects were prioritized in the areas of sustainable agriculture, construction of an office and community shed, strengthening of the Indigenous Territorial Protection and Surveillance Group (GPVTI), with the acquisition of equipment that will assist in field activities, strengthening of the cattle farming project, with the purchase of essential materials for sustainable management, respecting the environment and indigenous traditions, in addition to the production of handicrafts and the strengthening of traditional medicine. The projects will be carried out in the neighborhoods of Centro Canauanim, Barro Vermelho, Nova Morada and Campinho.
The actions of the PGTA, or Life Plan, as it is called by the leaders, strengthen the autonomy and management of the territory, in addition to supporting regions and communities in facing climate change and external pressures. They also contribute to the maintenance of traditional ways of life, income generation, education, food sovereignty, and governance.
For the Serra da Lua region, the amount of R$ 120 thousand was made available. The action has the support of partners Pawanka Fund and Danida (Danish Embassy).
