REGIONAL COORDINATION OF TUXAUAS, WOMEN AND YOUTH OF THE ELEVEN ETHNOREGIONS PRESENT THE ACTIONS DEVELOPED IN THE TERRITORIES

Following the program of the 55th General Assembly of Indigenous Peoples, the regional coordinators presented to the participants the activities and projects carried out throughout 2025 in the regions.

As a highlight, the Serra da Lua region brought the protagonism and autonomy of women in the region in the areas of handicrafts, cutting and sewing, sustainable projects and baking.

"In recent years we have sought many partnerships to further strengthen women. The CIR has been a great partner, bringing training and support to develop the aforementioned projects. By the end of the current coordination we want to give more autonomy to our region and, especially, to women", expressed Aldenicia Cadete, regional coordinator of women of Serra da Lua.

The leaders also pointed out the referrals of the regional assemblies on demarcation, territorial protection, sustainability, territorial invasions and other topics.

The Murupú region, a territory demarcated into islands, reported the pressure experienced by the territorial invasion.

"We, from the Murupú region, have been fighting to defend and recognize the Macaíba territory. It is not easy to be fighting against the pressure of the farmers. We are demanding the recognition of that territory", said Alane Lima, former regional coordinator of women in the Murupú region.

On the occasion, the leaders delivered to the Executive Coordination of the Indigenous Council of Roraima (CIR) a document with the demands and the request for recognition of the Nova Macaíba Community.

The coordinator of the Raposa region, Alencar Gomes, expressed concern when talking about territorial protection in the face of illegal mining that advances in the Raposa Serra do Sol Indigenous Land.

"The situation is very dangerous for us. In addition to destroying the environment, the miners are threatening the leaders. We have already denounced the situation of Serra do Atola and we again ask for support from the CIR and the competent bodies to strengthen actions to combat illegal mining in our territory",asked for leadership.

The assembly also reaffirmed support for the candidacy for federal deputy of Joenia Wapichana, president of Funai, and for the pre-candidates for state deputies nominated by the Amajari, Raposa, Surumu and Serras regions.

The regional coordinators of tuxauas, women and youth from the Alto Cauamé, Amajari, Tabaio, Wai Wai, Surumu, Serra da Lua, Murupú, Raposa, Serras, Baixo Cotingo and Yanomami ethnoregions were part of the table.
